About
What We Do
The Hippodrome is a blog that uses a surprisingly original idea: focus on the best unknown bands from around the world and treat them like the stars they’ll soon become. Here’s a nice, easy to digest list of the several ways that we do this.
-
The Hippodrome posts several features of the best unknown artists each week, and encourages you to submit your own music. Each feature or blurb contains content from an exclusive interview with the artist, a picture, and at least one mp3 available for download.
-
On top of featuring great artists, The Hippodrome provides the underground community with news and valuable tidbits about all matters that affect the music industry. These stories can be found in The Business.
-
As often as possible, The Hippodrome posts a review about a music social network, pointing out the pros and cons of the site in an effort to make things a little simpler for the aspiring musician and their fans. These can be found in Site Reviews.
Meet the Press

Hello, I’m Benjamin Bernstein, the founder, editor-in-chief and mascot of The Hippodrome. I also review music for Tiny Mix Tapes, and write for Kyle’s pretty cool blog, Analog Scene.
Fact alert: I was born without wisdom teeth. My favorite ice cream flavor is Brown Town, and my favorite food is pizza. I’m a sophomore at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, and truly am a fan of most things music.

Hello, I’m Kyle Wallace. Music journalism is just a hobby for me. I’d really like to be a cartoon voice actor for Adult Swim. Favorite foods? I like veggie pizzas and cran-grape juice. I’m a newswriter for Tiny Mix Tapes and I run my own blog, Analog Scene. I’m also really into film and art, you can find all that magic at my other website, Fragility Productions.

Hi, my name is Max Horwich. I was born toward the end of February in 1986, and shortly thereafter I started getting really, really excited whenever I was exposed to new music, which I’ve continued doing ever since. My hobbies include sewing, drinking tea, and maintaining a detached sense of amusement about everything. My favorite movies are pretty much all about bands (Stop Making Sense, The Last Waltz, The Fearless Freaks, Dig!, O Brother Where Art Thou?, etc.).
I started writing for the Hippodrome because I took an experimental music class with Ben and decided that I like the cut of his jib. I love writing about music, and I’m delighted to be involved with a website where I get to write exclusively about music that I like. I have my own blog that I’ve never updated ever because it’s my blog and so there’s nobody to give me deadlines. I also have a MySpace where I post my own music, but hey, who doesn’t these days?
